i just got my 2001 last wednesday(yellow) i got the 300 bonus bucks which was one reason i didnt wait. anyway my manual says for the first day avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration. and i asked the mechanic and he said to ride it for 15 minutes about half throttle(not wide open and not doggin the enging) then shut it off let the engine cool down then ride it for 15 minutes cool down and ride another 15 minutes and cool down. i did this and now i just finally got mine wide open today.

My dealer told me to ride it like I'm going to always ride it and told my friends the same thing they have had theirs a year now no problems. That's the way I brake everything in I know it's not the proper way but it seems to work for me. So I whould just take it easy for a while and I'm sure it will be ok.

Hello DEPALMA
I was just wondering how you got a 2002 Honda 400EX if the Honda website says it is not available till Aug? Let me know, and what price did youi get it for. Oh yeah, when my brother got his, the dealer told him to ride it throuight the gears, but easy, not like he was racing, and not to take very big hills. He told him to do this for a full tank, and then it was fine. Hope I helped.
