Recon oil screen

Can someone give me detailed instrucions on how to clean the oil screen on a recon.I also need help on adjusting the valves.

Based on information I read in a review of the Recon engine, you have to split the cases (a major job) to access the Recon's internal filter screen. I find it suprising that Honda would build an engine of such size that does not have an traditional type oil filter.

If thats the case
than I hope I never get junk in my engine because there is no way I am splitting the cases.

Hondapride:If you have a 98 and havent had any problems mybe i souldnt worry about changing it then.How many miles you think you have on your Recon?

I ride it on average 8 h a week since new.
I have not changed the filter screen yet.
I don't really see a need to change it unless you get dirt in the oil or overheat and think that the oil has developed scum and its settled to the bottom of the cases.
I change my oil every 2 months.

You should be fine I wouldent waste riding time worrying about it.

I have. It's easy once you have taken of its clothes to access the top of the engine.
