Aftermarket chassis owner's speak out
#1
Within the next month I plan on ordering an aftermarket rolling chassis to stuff my current 330cc motor in for next years racing season. I would like to hear opinions from those of you that own components from any of the aftermarket companies. And please, no bashing about seeing part "X" from company "Y" breaking out at the track. Everything breaks down over time or from improper maintenance. I have already talked to most of the companies and found very friendly service from all of them. Please let me know what you like and dislike about your current setups.
Thanks for your time and see ya out at the track.

I find it hard to believe that after two days, no one had any comments to make about this subject. I see a lot of signatures with large lists of aftermarket chassis components. Makes me wonder if they are "wish lists", rather than owned parts. Who knows....
I placed and order with Laeger, and should see everything around X-mas.

While my frame is stock, I have Leager +2 arms and swingarm. The quality of the pieces is great and I can report no problems at all.
I will be looking into a frame within the next year as well. I would like to get Leager to match the other pieces, but I heard they are not going to be making them anymore.

The only thing I have to say is that go with brand names. Sure, you pay more for the name, but there definately is a better quality. I bought knock off a-arms and the ball joints broke the first ride. Sure, I saved about 100 bucks over buying laegers or something else, but it was a hassle getting the parts in, and trying to esplaine it wasnt my fault so they should replace them for free.

Lasher,
Your right about Laeger not making frames anymore. In fact, they stopped last month. Some of the quad shops still have Laeger's in stock, but they are selling fast. Get them while you can.
It's not the frame that I'm waiting for. It's the special order A-arms, swingarm, and a steering stem. Everything is back-ordered 6 months. One of the reasons Laeger has stopped making frames is because there is no money in it anymore. It takes about 240 man hours to make a quality aftermarket quad frame. That averages out to about $10 bucks an hour for both supplies and labor. Try to get someone to work for that. A-arms and swingarms don't take as long but still cost almost half as much. Still plenty of money in that.
I am very excited about my purchase. If I can stay healthy, and keep my machine running. I think I will have a very good season next year.

Believe me, if I could get one right now I would. But the other race, my drain plug stripped and it feel out during a race. Toasted my entire tranny. Then during the tear down, I noticed that a top end was also needed. Sucked in dirt and it is on the last bore. So I need to rebuild the lower end and get a new top end done.
Oh, did I mention that half of my motor mounts snapped as well...
As much as I would like to have the Leager frame, I doubt there will be any left next year.
Of course the dream machine would be the Lobo chassis from roll design.

Roll Design Lobo.......I am drooling.......
Sorry to hear about the bad luck at the track. I've had some bad luck of my own, but not nearly as bad as yours. I've replaced the stator, pulse generator, carb, gas tank and had several flat tires. Right now I'm racing with a bent steering stem. Again, not as bad as your last experiance. But just enough to keeping me from racing every weekend. Hopefully your up and running soon.
Racing is not a poor man's sport by any means.
