I have an '86TRX 125 that I would like to take out of retirement. The whole top-end, etc. I would also like to re-gear the tranny to do away with the super-low first gear. None of us have used first gear even when pulling trailers. It also hindered the work when being used as a cow-pony. Is there another gear set that can be installed? Or possibly another engine/transmission combo that will fit in this frame?

Enjoy the forum! thanks for your time!

my '85 atc 125m has

4
3
2
n
1

but it has a high/low sub tranny that can be switched when the engine is off and stoped. When in low the gearing is way to tight. High is nice for most all the time except in the winter when there is a lot of snow then some times high is a little to far apart and i put it in low. just to tell you a bit about my 86 trx 125 [which has been in over 17 accidents, currently has more dust and dirt on it than any thing ive ever seen, ballooned tires, i think the exhaust is half cut, the gear shifter is lost [yes lost] but it gave me 2 fun years. that was in 96-97. so it's been like 4, no 3 years since it's been ridden. Poor thing. I would love to see it move on its own again. Just to see that DUCT TAPED SEAT with it's 20inch tires that ballooned moving. ah good times.

I had a 85 also, that thing shifted terrable...the ACT125M has dual range, but no reverse... just put a smaller rear sprocket on it and call it good

Default TRX 125 Tranny Mods Possible?

I've heard of someone sticking a cr125 motor in there, and having an adapter made so he could put a 520 chain on it. I've got an 87 fourtrax 125 that I need to sell, but how cool would that be if i obtained a cr motor. lol.

I have an 84 or 85, foget what it is now, sitting around doing absolutley nothing. Interested in it? I have no idea how it runs, as a guy dropped it off to me to fix up, and he decided not to, and left it. The plastic is crap, carb is gone, everything else is there. If ya want it, give me $50 bucks and pay shipping, it is yours!
