I hate to say it but my little Blaster will outrun a polaris 400. And my little Blaster will run 65 tops with my current gearing.

By stock I mean stone stock, from the dealer out of the crate. The air filter Polaris puts on the Scrambler is such a restrictive pos. You can easily get more out of it with a uni or a k&n. I never rode the Scrambler 400 with concentric drive, but I doubt that adding weight to the machine helps it to go faster.

Blacktop doesn't count for a Polaris top speed, you get them in the dirt and the secondary clutch will never let it open up like on blacktop, grass is worse. Sure a machine with gears is effected by this by making it harder to rev out, but not as much as the Polaris. I'm done with this, it could go on forever, I don't care which one is faster on blacktop, I don't ride there. Scramblers don't handle that bad for a Polaris, but it's nothing like a 400EX, or 300EX. If I was going to be drag racing all the time, and wanted a high top speed, I would have bought a Banshee. Oh, and when it comes to manual clutch machines and drag racing you have to powershift.

106 MPH Banshee, Are you considiering the extra weight, and the pvt on the Polaris? I do agree with same cc's a 2-stroke is faster, but the weight, and the pvt is what holds the Polaris back. If the 400EX was faster than the 250R there would be a lot more pro's running them. From what I hear the 400EX handles almost the same, except for the extra weight.

TRX400EXitement,

I agree that the Polaris isn't the best quad made for racing, but that isn't my point at all. My beef is with the guy that claims a 300ex is as fast.

Also, I would imagine that any quad will be slower on grass than on pavement, it's only logical. I see what you are saying though.

KKKILLER,

Renting a hotel would make it worse, then not only would I be wasting my money on gas, I'd be spending it there too. Also, my Polaris is not stock any more, I have pipes, a filter, a clutch kit, and a new carb on it (all of which were not on there when I smoked my buddies Warrior). I would have to take all of that crap off, and re-jet to get back to stock form.

Maybe if we were to put a nice ammount of cash on the race then it would be worth my while. However with your lack of Polaris knowledge that would be like me going to play high-stakes poker at a pre-school (just kidding).

Let's see what ScramDaddy says. I don't know the guy at all.

Later.

-Josh

KKKILLER250X my scrambler is completely stock right now, your 250X is only a morsel compared to the warriors I eat up for lunch.
Put all the mods you want, unless you have nitrus your machine is nothing compared to the 400cc 2 stroke powerplant of the scrambler.

With $1500 bucks you can build a race ready scrambler from HPD racing that pushes out 75 horsepower in under 2 seconds, that will devower a raptor in a heartbeat never mind a 250X.

This set up includes no boring or nitrus, an optional 440 kit is available from AAen racing and NOS puts out a nitrus oxide kit that can easily make that 75 horsepower turn into 100+!!!

Take that to the bank!!!

SURE!!!

I've been sitting back watching this topic. I have personally raced a Scambler 400 and beat it in a TOP END drag race. The only part of the race he had was the holeshot by about 1 quad for 30 feet. I know this for a fact and have done it for myself! Also, we have raced the 500 Scrambler vs 400 Scrambler. It is so damn close its not even funny...and dont give me that rider crap. Its a Polaris...hit the gas and go!

Now thats what I meant...I was going to stay out of this "mine is better than yours" battle, but when the false statement started to fly, I had to jump in. Oh and not to be biased...in a straight race, a 250X will not touch a 400 Scrambler. In the woods, that is totally rider...just like any other "quad vs quad" in the woods...

Oh and for the last statement that really made me laugh...the 70mph stock scrambler..ROFL!!! Give me a break...who do you think you are kidding!!!

<< I have personally raced a Scambler 400 and beat it in a TOP END drag race. >>

I said that a Scrambler will beat a 300ex. I never said a 400ex. I am guessing that your comments are not directed towards me anyway.

<< Also, we have raced the 500 Scrambler vs 400 Scrambler. It is so damn close its not even funny...and dont give me that rider crap. >>

You'll hear no crap from me. I have never seen them against each other.

<< in a straight race, a 250X will not touch a 400 Scrambler >>

That was the only thing that I contested. Thanks for agreeing.

<< Oh and for the last statement that really made me laugh...the 70mph stock scrambler >>

Personally I have never seen 70mph on my Polaris. Even with the mods I have I would guess 67 or 68 is about all I can get out of it.

Now back to your original comment:

<< LOL! You Polaris people make me laugh sometimes! >>

If this wasn't plural I wouldn't have looked at it the way I did, but it is. I guess I fall into that "Polaris People" category. Everything I said was from experience. I wasn't guessing about anything. I never even said that I could beat a 250x at first, I just said 300ex. The 250x guy said that the 250x and the 300ex are the same speed, so then I guess I assumed that I could beat the 250x (it's called logic). When the two Honda guys came on here saying that the 300ex was as fast, or faster than the Scrambler I stepped in to correct them. However, I didn't make a general statement like "You Honda guys make me laugh".

I, Like you, was just stating the facts.
