yamaha big bear 4x4 or honda rancher 4x4?

One is a Honda the other one a Yamaha......LOL
The Rancher is a 350(actual 329cc's) and the Big Bear is a 400cc machine approx. However it all depends on what your doing. The Big Bear has the 2wd/4wd option now which is nice if you like that. The Rancher has more ground clearance, lighter, full floor boards and ES optional models. The Big Bear is heavier, no full floor boards but does has disk front brakes I believe and drum rear. The Rancher has drums front and back. If you looking to work...go with the Big Bear. It has plenty of torque and is just like a Honda 400. However if you sport riding/mudding go with the Rancher. People will argue that the BB can handle larger tires...well they are right, it can handle 27 and the rancher can handle up to 26's both fairly good. However if tires and lift is the only mods your doing other than a power kit to help with the tires the Rancher is a better mudder due to the AP front diff. It is limited slip, but not as LIMITED as the BB front. If you leaving them stock Rancher all the way for off roading. Work Big Bear. Just my 2cents....but ride both and find which one suits your needs best...that is the bike for you.

I am in the same situation. I want a 4 by 4, but I really want a 650 Prairie. The problem is I want my 4X4 this fall for winter riding. I can't get the 650 unless I sell my Mojave and I really don't want to do that. So I have compared a lot of other quads that I could "live with" and I have narrowed it down to the Rancher and Big Bear(This of course if I don't sell my Mojave or can't wait untill spring to get the 650 Prairie). Anyhow, I like the looks of the Rancher much better and would prefer the Honda over a Yamaha, but the BigBear is a better value for 02' seeing how they have changed it to a selectable 4X4 or 4X2 system and the Rancher is only full time 4X4(4X3). I guess one couldn't go wrong with either quad so good luck in whatever you decide, I for one am not sure if it comes down to those two!
