Bought 84' 200X, questions.......
#1
Well first of all, these little things are cool!!!!!
We peeled off all the stickers, sanded, primered and painted the
gas tank black. Didnt turn out as well as I expected.
What is a good method of painting these metal gas tanks?
If I bought a new one, would it be plastic, or the old metal type?
How should I adjust the carb to compensate for the 4000 foot elevation increase at its new home? Rejet? to what?
Why have I heard about so many top-ends being rebuilt on these?
Are they prone to wearing out top-ends? How can I tell if it needs it,
and what if I dont do it?!
The oil I put in the motor is the oil that lubes the tranny and clutch also, right?
When I changed the oil, that little screen came out of the drain bolt hole.
Is there a WRONG way to put it back in? The spring goes OVER the screen and presses the back of the screen up agains that little wall in there, right?
Thanks for any answers, -Matt (01' RED 400EX, 84' 200X)

I have a '84 TRX 200, Same engine probably.
The owners manual says the carb is OK the way it is up to 5,000 feet.
The screen goes in pointed side facing you, spring over top then the cap.
Good luck and anyway I can be of help just let me know, I also have the shop manual.
Regards,
Ron
