I know that i could stomp them in the woods but they like to ride on long flat places (like the road lol) and open fields, stuff like that. I would keep the banshee but she is just too wide for the trails...i could make taller gearing but then i wouldnt have any acceleration. i heard u could put $500 in a 400ex and make it tie with a raptor...is that true and does anyone with expeirince know what mods i should get. ps are 440 kits worth it??? thanx again ttyl cya

440 kits a worth it. I don't have one myself but I've seen them eat Raptors for lunch. I plan on getting one when I get some cash. Get simple mods like pipe, air filter, jets etc. All the small things count. Get a big bore kit like 404, 416, 432 or 440 and most of them should be able to run away from a Raptor.

I would say bore it to a 416 (.080" over using the stock sleeve), put in a higher compression piston (JE is pretty good), a full-race cam (White Bros.), get a good pipe (such as White Bros.), K&N air filter w/ Outerwears and no air box lid, put on an XR250 rev box (that's what White Bros. sells for a lot more cash), and then get it ported and polished if you have the money. Then you will be able to outrun a stock Raptor as well as being able to out-handle it. I wouldn't go to a 440 unless you want more low end power, but you will have to pay to get it re-sleeved. The lighter 416 piston will rev quicker and give you lots of top end with the race cam while still giving you good low end with the higher compression piston. That's just my preferences for building a 400ex engine. I've rode and drag raced my cousin's 416 with everything above except the rev box and port and polish (those are coming this winter), and it will keep up with my LT until I hit 6th gear, then I got it by about 3-4 mph. Its definitely a big improvement over a stock 400....and way more fun to ride.
