blaster or 300ex

If you are getting a NEW machine, get the Blaster. The 300 is waayyyyyyy overpriced. I have owned a couple Blasters and a 300ex. Stock or slightly worked, I think my Blasters would win over the 300. Take the front tires of the Blaster and flip them around, gives you about 3" wider stance....not tippy. Find some Banshee front shocks and put on softest setting......nice ride and landing. Now go eat 300's in the woods and sand and ........
For the price of a NEW 300 you can get a Blaster, pipe it, jet it, air filter, pro reeds, ram valve, Banshee shocks, Holeshots all around on alum rims, and still have money for gas!!!!

Our Blaster has not held up well!! We have had a dozen things go wrong, mostly related to the transmission and a BADLY cracked swingarm. Frankly, I would never buy another Blaster, and can't wait to get rid of this one!! The Blaster hasn't seen any rougher treatment than the 300, and the 300 hasn't had a problem of ANY KIND (both bikes are about the same age and are meticulously maintained). The extra money you spend on the 300 will be saved on repairs and downtime. Which one goes faster?? The 300, because the Blaster is sitting in the garage IN PIECES.

Alright people.I have had both at the same time.I had a 1998 blaster and a 1990 blaster At the same time that I have had my 300ex.
MY first blaster was the 98 it had a DG pipe and silencer, rad valve, and a uni filter with airbox lid vents. In a drag race it was a little ahead of my 300ex not much. But I would say 3-5 mph faster.
My second blaster was bored .025 over,pro-x piston, boyesen reeds, port and polished. In a drag race it was dead even with my 300ex.The blaster would get the jump and then the 300ex would slowly catch up.
Now handling was a little better on the 300ex.But would rather have a blaster on a mx track. It is so small U can just throw it where U want it.
In the woods though I like the 300ex.The smooth power and nice handling make for a real trail carver.
Durability on both blaster's where awesome.Nothing ever broke. They always started right up.
The 300ex's both front shocks have broke. And the plastic makes me mad.The brackets all broke and the handlebar plastic sucks.
The only reason I got rid of my 98 blaster was because I traded it for a warrior and some money.MY parents needed the money right then so that is what they did.
I sold my 1990 blaster to get a 125 dirtbike.Right after I sold it though my mom took the money! That made me mad but I will get over it.Plus I was never real comfortable on the blaster.Seeing that I am 6 foot 5.
The brakes always worked great on my 98.But my 90 when I first got it they didn't work at all.So I bought a new rear brake cable and new rear brake pads.I put it all togother did some adjustments and the rear worked great. The fronts just needed some adjusting.
The only thing that needed replaced on my 90 blaster was the swingarm pivot bearings and seals. And I bought it form a goofy kid that ran the wrong kind of 2 stroke oil and ran it without a airfilter. So it blew up.
