My local Honda shop ordered me a new one and then they called me this morning to tell me Honda discontinued making them! How do they put them on 400EXs that are being made then? Plus if you go to Service Honda they will come up part number 16963-HN1-000 so I dunno.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

I think thats a buncha BS. Unless they were going to stop making that part cause they were dropping the 400ex for maybe a 450ex?? Just a thought

Thats total BS.

My local Honda shop keeps an inventory of these things cuz almost every 400EX I know of had this part vibrate off.

Honda covered this (and 4 or 5 other bolts that vibrated lose) under warranty. When you get the new one, loc-tite the screw.

 

they still make them!, mine fell off and my dealership just got me another one.

 

Yepper I replaced mine too..they are still making them. Tell your dealer to take a walk.

 

i had the same thing happen to me. lucky for me i was cleaning my 400ex and had the seat/back fenders off and i found it. it was lying right below where it is normally positioned tucked in the plastic. look there for yours because a friend of mine found his there also.

same thing happened to me,,but after awhile of searching it was behind the black plastic by the leg. I don't believe they have discontinued making them,, that sounds like bull. I would keep searching for someone, call servicehonda and see what they say.
