Well, I've had mine for less than a month, ( 3 weeks to be exact), it already has 80 miles on it. So far nary a problem. It starts every time ( if I remember to turn the gas on ) It's my first ATV (I'm 31) and it goes like snot. Point it, mash da gas, and hang on!!!!

Bad idea.....coming to a Honda Forum and asking about reliabilty. Hehehe.....only the straglers from the other forums might say something negative.

Just bought an '02 Rancher ES. Love it. It's a blast to drive. Went on first ride today. Only thing is that the reverse stopped working. Brought it home to adjust the reverse cable, but didn't help. Other than that problem. it is great machine so far. It will take a lot to fill the shoes of my past Arctic Cat in the power and suspension dept, but it does well.

One thing I want to add. If you're going Rancher for speed, don't. They ain't the fastest in the woods by a long shot. My Nephew's Wolverine stomps my butt in a straight line, but the 'ol Rancher has some torque, I can climb faster than him and the 4wd is better. And I think its better in tight areas, we went riding yesterday and I was faster in the technical portions than he was, and I am a newbie....but all this rot is IMHO to be sure....

I've put almost 1,000 miles on my 2001 Rancher es and it has not missed a lick. I don't ride alot of super deep mud, but everything else.....snow, rivers, sand, hardpack it is an all around great machine. If you plan on deep mud riding just get some mudrunners and your good to go, if not the stock dirt hooks have taken me everywhere with not a single flat tire. As far as reliability, it hasn't seen the shop since I bought it. Enough said.
good luck

Truthfully, if you post something about reliability in any forum, the people there are all going to be positive. Nobody downs their own quad for reliability. Well, I would, but most people are going to tell you it is great no matter what they've had to do to it.

Honda has a long straight track record, though having owned both, I think the Arctic Cats are right there with them.
