bearing problems
#1
anyone know what i can do to keep my axel bearings from wearing out. I ride in the river a lot but not in water over a foot deep. all the seals are fine. I changed the bearings today and plan on getting new seals tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to keep my axel bearings lasting longer.

If you havent put it together yet or next time you take it apart put a greese "zerk" right in the middle of the bearing carrier. You dont want to do it with the bearings inside cuz the metal shards will chew the bearings right up, but if its apart you can slap a zerk on there and pump it full of greese.

I would put a zerk fitting on your carrier like brokemybanshee said, but I would use wheel bearing grease made for boat trailers. That is what I use, beause it is waterproof. Make sure if you do alot of water riding to repack your hub. Even with new seals water still can get into you bearings. Any marine grade grease made for trailers would work. Just go to your local boat store it should be there.
