blaster beating a 400ex
#1
Alright I have a 400ex, a lot of my friends have blasters. I keep blowing them away everytime wee race. But now they are modding them up with sprockets and pipes and such. I don't have any money for mods right now so I was wondering what they would have to have before they start beating me.

My friend with a 95 blaster has a paul turner pipe and silencer (good for blasters), a 1 tooth bigger sprocket up front and holeshots. No compition. I am stock to. Wait untill the port and polish with a pipe, then they will be level with you maybe faster. when they get a new piston, you gotta start beefin up. They will never have the smooth power and awesome reliability as us.

People down grade the blaster too much...I have a 400ex (stock) and a blaster with once over bore...fmf pipes...k&n filter...stock gearing. It will clean the 400's clock every time..in the woods or the track.
People will argue that it is not true...But it is. The blaster has the potential to be a very nimble little quad. It is not slow by any means. They get dangerous because of the wheel base and stock suspension.
Take a blaster...go 2 inches longer on the swing, 2+1 on the arms, decent suspension and a 240 kit....you have yourself a little rocket that you can man handle in the air.

Yeah...I was not saying that the blaster is a cure all...just saying that people down grade it way too much. It has the potential to be a very quick little quad. And the only reason I say little is because even with the swing and arms...I still hit my knees on the handle bars.
Other than that...I will beat my 400ex all day long with it. But the 400ex is more comfortable for me. Now I get out the banshee..and totally waste both of them. Stock 400 or not. I have a bunch of people I know with 400's, 440's. Whatever.... I have not found one yet that touches the banshee. Anywhere. But I guess we are not comparing the banshee vs. 400ex. Either way...It does not really matter to me...Out of the 3 quads, I always find one that serves it's purpose for the day. The 400ex sees more backyard time because it is so quiet to run. That's the only reason I bought it...Not the upgrade potential...definatly not the stock power. It was electric start...easy to ride...and not much maintenance. I have changed the plug once in it since new (1999)
