Drill holes on each side of the crack and run zip ties around them

Bingo... I saw the zip tie thing on some quads we rented in Cabo. They made four holes. two on either side, about two inches apart from the next set, then criss crossed the zip ties, worked very very well.

trx250104-

if you take the advice of mt400ex check this out. before you start heating up the plastic, make sure it is a thermoplastic. if it is a thermoset, heat will only degrade it. thermoplastics can be reheated and reformed repeadetly with minimal effects. call honda a find out. if they give you a type of plastic, let me know and i can tell you if it is a thermoplastic or thermoset.

I'm not sure what the guy did to mine, but he used some stuff that looks like hot glue. Its called Platic Weld or something like that. The stuff he uses acts like a glue. He puts the stuff i between the cracks and pushes them back together. It holds up stronger than the plastic itself. He shaves of the excess on the top of the pastic and leaves the bottom alone. I have yet to crack my plastic again where I have already cracked it.

This takes the Zip Tie approach one step farther. Much better looking results. Check out the link below

now that does look half way decent. If you have white plastic it will look really good. I figure you can probably paint the fishing line red and would probably make it unnoticble. I still think, though, that the way I fixed my plastic looks better.

The epoxy may work if the crack is in a low stress area. I've used the Devcon product "Plastic Weld". It works great on most types of plastic. It is a two-part epoxy that you can get a Home Depot or other hardware stores. If you use Clear fishing line the stitching is hard to notice. Over time the line does turn white and may need to be replaced. The image of the repair on the 250R fender is over 5 years old and still holding.
