I have an 86 R. The steering stem bushing near the bars has gone bad. How do you get the bushing off and the new one on? Thanks

Just remove the four bolts that hold the front half of the bushing housing on. The front of the bushing housing will come right off and the bushing itself is split to go around the shaft. It is a ten minute job.

Thanks. I wasn't able to look on my R because it is in the shop for tranny work. I was looking at a parts drawing and couldn't tell that the bushing was split

You can get a Hinson bushing that is supposed to last longer than the stock one.
