i have found two quads for sale
1. is a 88 250r still has stock plastic and motor has never been torn into for $4400 this one is in great shape for a 88 model almost a cherry.
2. 2001 400ex white bros. pipe nerf bars holeshots and dg bumber $4500
which 1 would be the best deal?

Hey Berm,
Thats a tough choice. If both were the same year (don't we wish) I would pick the 250R hands down, but I would have a hard time paying that for an '88, even though that is probably the going price for a cherry one. You could buy a brand new 400ex in Michigan (if you don't mind the drive) for $4550.

I've ridden both alot, and they are very simular. If you buy the 400ex, you will be getting a great bike that is very reliable, but if you get the 250r, you will be getting a great bike and a racing legend. The handling on both is almost identical, the ride on both is good, and they are about equal jumpers. The power is where the difference is. A 250r makes a little more power than a stock 400ex, and is a much pipier power. But pipe, filter, and port both quads, and the 250r will leave the 400ex in the dust! I'd take the 250r, because they are getting rarer and rarer every day, and you never know when you'll be able to find another one like this again.

250R ALL the way ! I'm getting a 250R sometime soon and The only reson I would get a 400ex over the 250R is if I A) wasn't strong enough to kik it over B)If I lived where it was cold or C)2 strokes were band. The 400ex is great too but I love the sound , smell ,and power of a 2 stroke .
