Yes true it might be abit of a hassle, but figure the 20lbs it would shave, and a warmed up 400 seems to start right up... and if you cant kickover a decompressed 400.... hehehehe

Ah Prescott Valley, Arizona. I am not very fond of that town partley because we played you guys in a baseball tournament in Flagstaff a few weeks ago. They won by a luck homerun. Anyway Safford is down here about 1 1/2 hours east of Tucson.

I just love my E-start buttons. I never have used the recoil on my Recon or the kick starter on my TRX 300.

yes you can add a kick start to your 400ex you need a side cover and the guts from a xr400 dirt bike and you dont need to add the valve cover ...the stock decompresser werks well ...but you do need to make or moddify the kick start lever (shorty) so it will clear the fender's ...also the xr's clutch cover is better sooted for racers it has a quick change clutch cover (stock) and if your still stealing part's off that old xr400 take the rev box (cdi) from it... it has a higher limit and a better curve.....

Ive already got a cam, and a few other mods inside And for the valve cover, i looked at that too, and the casting is there also, just needs to be drilled out and hardware installed, and yes the XR400 cover is nice, but is it the same??

Yeah, kickstarting big 4 stroke thumper motors is no fun. I had an xt600 (kick start, no electric start) and it was a bear to start. I would stick with the electric on the 400ex. Worth the extra weight.

I remember when I had my Honda XR200 I hated to kick start that. E/Button is the way to go for me on a 4/stroke motor. Now I don't mind kicking my KDX since its easy to start. Chet
