A recent trip into my bottom end i noticed the space for the XR400 kickstarter is still there, bolt holes and everything.... Ive notice that the XR has a manual decompression release in the head, anyone ever tried putting the kickstart on the 400ex??

Why, trust me, it's no fun to kick a big bore 4 stoke, ask any 350X owner.

for a race quad, it would probably be beneficial to lose the weight associated with the electric starter.

First time you get kickbakc from that thumper you'll break your fool ankle. I would be good for the weight you may save but what if you need to get a quick start like if you where to stall out on the track?

my biggest concern with adding a kickstart to a 400EX would be getting enough clearance for the lever. your gonna need to be able to tuck it against the engine and you'll have kick it without slammin against the pegs.

The first time you kill it in the heat of battle, can't get it started until everybody passes you, and come in last place, you will be reinstalling your magic button system!
