<< when i see a cop..i run down a trail then they cant catch me >>

Well, you must have moronic cops where you are from, because if you did that around here you'd get caught eventually. The cops would just stop by a nearby house and give the person a description of the quad and/or rider and more than likely SOMEBODY would be able to tell the cop who you are and what you ride. They don't have to chase you up the trail to catch you, they just need to wait for you at your house...you'll eventually go back there.

Also, a friend of mine (who rides a 1996 Banshee), tried to pull this stunt on the police and he thought that he had succeeded until the next day when a cop knocked on his door (actually he was 18 and still lived with his parents, so it was their door). The cop gave him a fine that was around $200 I believe, plus a couple points on his license. Anyway, he still thought he could get away with it and took it to court. After all, it was dark and he was wearing a helmet so there was no way that a cop could identify him....so he thought. They went to court and the state police had submitted a video, which contained shots of him riding his four wheeler on the highway, as well as evading the police. They also had witnesses that testified that this he was indeed the person driving the quad. After all was said and done he ended up with over $800 worth of fines, and numerous points on his license (they got him for more things such as speeding, evading the police, and riding with a passenger).

Do what you want, I don't care. If the cops want to get you bad enough they will. Don't think that you are outsmarting them.

And yes, I can see why you don't want to hear about the "what your doing gives the sport a bad name" thing, because you obviously don't care. It's because of morons with that attitude why we can't ride on a lot of the land around here. Some people are just plain stupid. Sure, my friends and I ride fast, and do a lot of things that a lot of regular trail riders wouldn't do. But we always do them in a controlled environment where it is not hurting anybody else. Personally, I can't just go out and ride my quads at trail speeds all day "just enjoying nature". I ride for the pure rush of it. And yes, there are a few things that we do that are not totally legal, such as riding on the paved road, but if anybody complains, or if we get chased by the cops, we face the consequences. Take it for what it's worth.

Pirahna said it all quite well.

TRXdude, it is people like you that complicate the lives of people that DO care about this sport.

I am sure you will be taken out of the gene pool soon enough - you are undoubtedly one short-bus ****!

Hey guys, no need to list your ages... it's painfully obvious. The teenage "I know it all attitude" can't be missed.

Did you ever stop to think that the reason some people are giving you a hard time is because of the exact actions you just described doing. Your "I don't care" attitude is what's causing people to complain. YOU are ruining your own good time (and ours) and soon you will have an even harder time riding because more and more people will complain.

And as far as out-running the police goes, did you ever hear the statement that "You can't out-run a radio"? Also, when you **** off enough people, did you ever realize that it makes it that much easier for the cops to ask around to get info about the moron with the 4-wheeler. You only attract attention to yourself and are actually making it easy for the cops to find out exactly which door to knock on when they want to impound a bike.

K2 I'm 14 and I don't have that attitude , when I see a cop I stop and get fines. I don't ride where I shouldn't , I am respectful to people the first time , and I don't start trouble. You should just assume everyone thats a tennager is ignorant and "doesn't care" , sounds like ex_master handled it well and hes 15 so you don't to have steroetype everone. Thats like saying ALL people from down south hate EVERYONE from the north or saying ALL peurto ricans steal or ALL chinese people are good at math , or ALL japaneses people can't drive good , and sooo many more.

And I would like to add that some people just plain don't like ATV's not because someone on an ATV did something stupid just because they just plain DON'T LIKE THEM. My grandparents for example don't like ATVs. Just like I don't like road racing bicycles , they haven't dodne anything to me I just don't like them. Another example is snakes , they have never done anything to me I just don't like them.

Killer,

I don't think that he meant that all teenagers have that attitude. I think that he was saying that he could tell that he was an ignorant teenager by the sounds of his posts.

There are good and bad in all age groups...you're right.

Whoooh, slow down there Killer. Piranha got the point exactly. I'm not trying to make stereotypes, just commenting on the attitude coming from a few of the posts. You seem like a well-rounded, intelligent teenager who is trying NOT to give the sport a bad name. We all know it is those who "don't care" that are making it worse for the rest of us and yes that can also be from any age.

In regards to people not liking ATVs, that is often, not always, from a lack of understanding and knowledge or simply being tired of hearing them every day near their homes. Many see them as dangerous, loud or destructive to name a few. But again, that opinion often comes from hearing about, reading about or actually witnessing behaviors as mentioned in some of these posts.

When riders aren't doing anything wrong, nobody hears about it. When they are doing things they shouldn't, it is news. People who have no understanding of the sport now have that to go on to form their first impression. It is up to those of us who enjoy the sport to make sure the first impressions of those unfamiliar is a good one. I may not be a big fan of road racing bicycles either, but if they pass by and aren't doing anything wrong why would I complain? Now, if they are hanging around, making noise, riding where they shouldn't and destroying things - then, yes I would obviously have an issue with it - it's that simple.

Yeah, hey Jeffman, there isn't a reason to be destructive to someone's property just because they don't like what you doing. If you're not doing anything wrong, why worry (or more importantly, mess up something they have worked for)? We work hard for what we've got and someone messing it up just pisses us off more. How old are you? And how much have you worked or paid for? I love riding and playing with my 4-wheeler but I won't mess up something somebody else has worked for. If you're not doing anything wrong, why cause trouble? Let the law be on your side. That's just my opinion.

Hey Piranha,
I think we have the same thoughts. I agree with everyhing I've read that you said (so far). I'm very new to the forum. There is no reason for people to be "stupid" on a 4-wheeler just because somebody pissed them off. I think you're just going to end up hurt or hurt somebody being stupid. Sorry, no offense, I hope everyone reads this and thinks twice about showing off or whatever (just to **** somebody off). It's not worth somebody getting hurt. We're just trying to have fun.

Yeah TRX350 dude,

You don't care. Alot of us work very hard for what we've got and we don't need you messing it up for us. With that attidude, they'll end up outlawing 4-wheelers before you know it.

I Agree
Even though these people don't want you riding around there you should still have respect for them.
I'm nice to anyones whos nice to me, if someone tells me they don't want me riding (if they are nice about it) I'll leave and come back later.

But if the people are rude like the ones that stopped me , of course I'm gonna be rude right back to them, they get what they deserve.
