I have a few uestions about premix.
<What would be a good ratio to run in a stock 250R ?

<Why is it so expensive ? I looked into getting a 5 gallon jug
<and it was $230!!

<What is a good brand to use? I don't want to be spending all my
<money on premix but I don't want some crap that will mess up my

I think you're worrying too much.

There are as many ratios/brands, etc. as there are 2 stroke riders.
The oil is expensive but you don't need very much; I use only 12.8 ounces of oil to a 5 gallon can of gas (that's 50:1). You can mix as heavy as 20:1 or as light as 100:1.
I use Golden Spectro right now and only because that is what everyone else in my group is using and we all mix 50:1.
Go to http://pub20.ezboard.com/bhondatrx250r and just research the site. There are several threads on this subject.

 

Why don't you just ask the person your buying it from? What ratio and brand did he use. Problem solved. Just when are you supposed to get this 250r?

 

$230 for 5 gallons, that's over $11 a quart. Just what kind of oil were you looking at anyway?
There are castor based oils, non-castor, and synthetic in all different price ranges. You can get really cheap pre-mix oil but why invest money in a machine and then scrimp on the lubrication that keeps it running. Try to settle on one type of quality oil and stick with it.
Don't switch different types of oils with every tank and don't mix castor based pre-mix with non castor based. Talk to some 250R owners and get a feel for pre-mix ratio and brands they use.
As long as you use a quality oil you should be ok just try to be consistent about what you run in your motor.

 

killer, this is doggster i cant find what you wrote me about the frame for a 85-87 honda fourtrax 250 shaft drive. If you oculd i would like it if you could rewrite it in the honda forums under 250 fourtrax frame. Thanx

 

bermbanger I am getting it on sept 2nd I can send you A pic if you like. Also I don't want to ask the guy I am buying it from incase he isn't running the right mixture. Also doggster Im not going to bother posting it over there I was just telling you to go to the ATVCONNECTION classifieds to find your frame. you will have better luk over there.

I run 40:1 using yamalube. I had a real problem fouling plugs so I did a plug check and it was way rich. I went down a few sizes and changed to Yamalube 40:1. The bike rides great and I haven't foulsed a plug in quite a while.

 

Oil: Klotz Super Techniplate - $8.95 for 32 ounce bottle (retail)
Ratio: 32:1 -using this ratio one 32 oz. bottle of Klotz will mix 8 gallons of gas

I have been using this for years in several bikes and quads with no probs.
