the crf450 did not replace the cr500! the crf450 is meant as a four stroke alternative to the cr250. since the ama no longer has 500cc races (only 125 and 250) honda decided they didn't need to make em anymore i guess. oh and whoever said its probably a crotch rocket is probably right i can't believe i didn't think of that.

I pretty much know for a fact that they are updating the RC51. It was on motorcyclenews.com.. that is if i am correct in my assuming that the SP2 is the Euro version of our RC51. But whatever is the SP2 will be updated. I see no reason why we couldn't have more than one new "Futures of High Performance". When I read this, I am thinking that Honda is bringing us a whole fleet of the "Future". Complete with; motorcycles, watercraft, ATV, and Dirt Bikes. Either on this forum or EXriders there is a guy who works for an emblem making company who made the VTX emblem. He said they just got done making emblems for a 1300 version of the VTX. So there is the mid-range cruiser. They already have the top dog. Then they will have an updated 929,1100XX, and RC51. That covers the rockets. ATV's, more than likely a new sport quad, and probably not a utility. They still have the trickest tranny on the market. And then there will be a CRF250. Boy do I hope this comes true, not only will I be happy, I will have guessed right too!

Look what I found!!!!!...
"Honda has always been thought of as an innovative leader. Whether this is true or not, they have moved in another direction in the past few years as companies like Polaris, Yamaha and Kawasaki introduce super big bore ATV's with belt-driven auto trannies and shiftable 4X4.
We've been hearing stories about a 650cc mill in a Honda Rubicon. If this were true, it would be good news. It doesn't seem that far-fetched when you consider Honda has had a 650cc engine for years: the mill used in their XR 650 dirt bike. Yamaha used a dirt bike engine in the Raptor, what if Honda put the XR engine into a Rubicon chassis and added shiftable 4X4?
Does anyone else think that would set the competition on its ear? Well, it might not shake the rest of 'em, but it certainly would be a huge boost to Honda in the face of their often slow reaction to the competition's new iron. As always, stay tuned for more!"
I found that from an ATV magazine web-site from Canada here, sounds exciting!!!

I see three possable quads that sounds honda like:
450EX, honda has the engine, and would sell the best
650EX, Honda has had the engine longer
Rubicon II 650, to compete with the old wolverine and new grizz
My bet is still on the 650 with reverse, but the 450 sounds much more like honda "small, lots of power and handels well"
