250r head gasket

I have recently put a cr250r head gasket on my 250r it leaked a little around the collhead and the jug at first I went back and retorqed the bolts a couple of pounds tighter I dont think it hurt any thing i was wondering if I was supposed to use some sort of sealant on it first i was told no but the gasket was real thin like paper thin but it was metal lke piece of tin should i pull it off and put a new gasket on it and use some sort of sealant this time.

If you got it to quit leaking, leave it alone.

If it continues to leak, try a new gasket. If that doesn't work, you have surface problems, like the top of the jug isn't straight or the head is tweaked a little.
