how do i make my trx 250 1985 go faster it is driven by drive shaft i have back wheels are 25s and i have done some modes

 

Just this week i bought an 85 Fourtrax 250 for cheep. It has a bent swing arm and it hasnt been run in alittle more than 6 months. Today I heated up the swing arm with my torches and took a spud bar to it it did bend it down a little and i think tomorrow when I have the time I can bring it down to where it is spose to be. But I also have to clean out the air box,change the oil, dran the gas, clean the carb, change the filters(air,oil), and ect before i try to start it so i dont f andything up in the motor. But hopefully next week i can have this hog on the road and roaring. It already had a K&N air filter I think i am just going to clean it and see how the power is. Also i would like to get one of the many cobra pipes for it i am not sure what one would be the best though.

hey doggster if you what to put some stuff in it to give it more power just tell me i got a hot cam for mine for $99 and i had to get new valve springs but i got it ported and polished and the pison i have in it now is 12:1 comp it runs nice lots of power i am thinking about get a white brother pipe on it but i am try to get a car

 

Yeah today was the day. I got it runnin! and boy does it run nice. It has sat for more than 6 months all I did was clean the mouse nest out of the air box and air intake tube, drain the old gas added the new, cleaned the air filter, and charged the battery. I though i would have to crank on it alittle but i pulled the choke out and hit the start button, it scared me when it fired up cuz it started like it was brand new. I took some laps around the house cleaned it out there were a few puffs of smoke that came out but thats just from sitin so long. Then I brough it out in to the field and got her goin and man it went nice has a respectable top end but I was alittle scared to keep it there because the handleing was soo bad. Once i get all new tie rods and ends and aline everything I will fell a little better about goin fast on the thing. But I cant wait till I am draging a buck out of the woods with that thing.

 

go to a wrecker......compare the diff with one out of a 250sx trike

if its the same ......swap it....

the diff in the sx was higher geared....than the big red

i personally dunno if it works......i haven't seen a trx250 in years

and come to think of it i haven't seen my sx since easter [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] .....i must go visit it.....its over due for an oil change......

ever tried a xr250 CDI or something.........get rid of the rev limiter at the top end

 

yeah today i was out ridin the my 2 fourwheelers and my father was on the fourtrax i was on my beartracker and in one field he opened it up and left me in the dust that thing has way more ***** than the beartracker.

 

i have a 87 trx 250. i was wondering where did you get all the parts for it. thanks

 

The TRX250 is an awesome bike. I've got the '86 model. I drive it full throttle quite a bit and I haven't blown it up...cause it's a Honda I guess.

Anyways, I want to make it a little faster. I want to get a 300ex but I don't have enough money for one (I do but then if I buy one I won't have enough for a car). If I could somehow modify the gearing it would be nice. I'm driving it full pin in 5th gear (it's actually 4th gear cause 1st is actually SL) and I just wish there was a 6th gear cause it's constantly revving at it's full RPM. If I took the transmission apart, would it be possible to make any changes to it so I have more top end?

 

Sure - drop a 350 X motor in it.......lots more power (about the same as a 400 ex stock) and six speeds forward.
