I have a 89 250R -- original owner.

Best mod so far was putting in a "brand new" built up 86 350X motor. Now it is a 350RX. I did this back in 1995 way before the 400EX.

I love the way the frame/shocks are set up. Very fast woods riding machine.

 

I have a 86 that I'm in the process of restoring. I would have to say the thing I like best is the blistering mid-range. After riding my R if I jump on any 4-stroke and have to drink a gallon of coffee just to say awake.

Best mod, I would have to say re-building the front brakes, a MUST on an R.

 

I have an '87 TRX250R. My favorite mod would be the works tripple rate shocks. I like the 250R becuase of it's light weight and great handling. I have a 250R and a quadzilla and I like the fact that I have less money into the pair of them than I would a Raptor and they will both smoke any new quad and both have better chassis as well in my mind. The Zilla has the stock width of a race ready R. They are both incredible machines, maybe one day the manufacturers will wake up and make a quad that is all around as good as them that does not cost a small fortune, but I doubt it.

favorite thing handling=I have JD performance +1 +2 A-arms with white power front shocks with piggybacks and a durablue 2+2 rear axle with a white power shock.Handles so awesome.Plus I got the wider off-set front wheels.

favorite mod=suspension.SUre that motor is freakin awesome but all the power in the world is no good without handling.


favorite thing about it.Everything.Does everything so well it is just awesome.

i have a 1986 250r. id say my best mod would have to be the race engine! unbelievable power!!! buying my R was the best thing that iv ever done!

 

I have an 88 with a long list of mods. Most definately I like the handling and balance of the machine. Best mod? Without a doubt, the suspension. Durablue +2+2, Houser long travel +2+1 arms, long travel Elka triple rates and rear Elka dual rate. Close second is the ESR 310 kit. What I like least is the fact that I go under the knife Wednesday for some titanium and will be out for 3-4 months.
