I have a 1986 250R. It is FAR from stock. My favorite mod would have to be my suspension. I have WORKS TR Fronts w/Laeger +2+1m aarms, and a Custom AXIS rear shock. These mods have increased performance by a long shot. My favorite thing would be......... Everything but the powerband. I have a '87 TRX250R. It is not worthy of a picture (yet).
My favorite mod has to be the JB weld a previous owner put around the shift shaft area on the case(Chain came off) That, or the COMPLETELY missing rear brake system. (weight savings???) OR maybe the GROUND OFF lower motor mount, and missing upper (cylinder) motor mount? (Possibly more weight savings?) No, NO NO.... HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE mod are the Troy Lee flaming EYEBALL stickers plastered EVERYWHERE. NO wait, it is not that, it is the HOME-MADE BAJA style aluminum rear grab bar that stretches from fender to fender!!! YES, that is truly my favorite mod!!!
My favorite thing about the 250R? ... Hmmm.... Power to weight ratio, and the handling characteristics.
I only got to ride my 250R a couple times last winter before I completely striped it down and started rebuilding it.
I also have a '85 ATC250R.
Don't really have a favorite mod.
Fav' thing about it is the power to weight ratio, and somewhat decent handling characteristics. (EXCELENT compared to OTHER 3 wheelers)

Mine is an '87. I think the only stock parts left are the frame, swingarm, and plastic. The best mod was the 310 kit and the 39mm carb. Closesly followed by works front shocks and a TCS rear revalve with +2 a-arms. Favorite feature is the way it flys through the air with the greatest of ease.

I have a blue/white 86 R, bored .020 over. Favorite mod was new sand tires this year. What I like best, just the greatest ride ever!
My wife has a red/white 87 R, midrange porting. Her favorite mod is the "Girls Kick ***" on the side. What she likes is that it will go where ever she wants just by nailing the throttle.

1986 250R. The best thing I've done to it has been the modified top end from "McDizzy". My favorite 250R trait is the light weight and handling. I like my 400EX's handling, but I can't throw it around on the ground or in the air like I do the 250R, and it sure doesn't accelerate as quick.
