Rubicon Transmission Problems?
#1
I'm intersted in buying a 2002 Yellow Rubicon when they come out in January but I'm a little anxious about the Transmission, they changed the design to an automotive style for the new Rincon and I'm wondering why.

Mine has been rock solid.... The Rincon has an automotive type, with a torque converter & 3 speed auto. I was at Richfield this past week when Honda showed it off. Unfortunately they didn't hang around very long & I missed seeing it.

The rubicon is a rock solid dual range 5 speed ESP shift/auto hydro mechanical for work and play, the Rincon is a Tire smoken single range tranny with a true torque converter and stall speed (you can build power by holding it agenst the converter) that has 3 Drive ranges, much the same as the Rubicons D1 and D2 and is geared for more play than work.

I'm not doubting what your dealer told you, but I happen to know that there have been some problems with the transmisions. I'll let people with Rubicons go into details.

I have a 2001 Rubicon and have transmission problems. What the problem is when I am low gear unders stress, like going up a steep hill, the trasmission grinds. It sounds like it is going out of gear. When I stop and start again it works again. This happens when I am snow plowing also. I have taken it to 3 dealers, and they cannot fix the problem. Anyone else have this problem?
