300ex or Warrior

Don't even consider the Warrior!! I rode one for years, and I am glad to be rid of the thing!! It handles like a BIG HEAVY bike. The power is ok, but the suspension will buck you off in the rough stuff. The 300 has less power, but it has good (not great) suspension, and is very agile and has a light feel. You're from Ohio, so I assume you are looking for a trail bike. This is where the 300 shines!

In my honest opinion....If I had to choose (stock for stock) I would pick the Warrior just because it is faster.
HOWEVER....
I don't know what mods it takes to make the 300ex faster, but if both machines were the same speed I would pick the 300ex. I think that it is a better bike all around, except for the speed factor.

I was also torn between the two until I went to the dealers and saw them in the flesh.
I just thought the Warrior looked like a nice (especially in blue), high quality quad while the 300ex had kind of a cheap "toy" look to it. I like speed, and the Warrior IS faster stock.
The 300ex does handle a BIT better, but not enough to convince me to buy one. Nothing against the 300ex (being a Honda I'm sure it's a great quad); but after riding both I can say I'm very, very glad I got the Warrior.
Just my 2 cents.
If you do get the Warrior, do yourself a favor and install a Pro Design Pro-Flow intake/filter kit before you even ride it. The Yamaha airbox design is pitiful and will leak dirt into your engine in no time. Anyone will tell you that.

Well here is another vote for the 300ex... I have ridden them both and wouldn't even consider a Warrior when buying this type of quad. I hear all these people say the Warrior is faster and all this BS.. Ya, the Warrior may have a few MPH on the 300ex, but you get them both on a track or in the woods and the 300ex will come out on top... The 300ex is lighter and has better suspension and I feel the build quality is tons better than the Warriors.
So my vote is for the 300ex.

300ex vs. Warrior has been argued many many many times. Plain and simple - Warrior is faster, but 300ex handles better. If you ride tight twisty woods trails, get the 300ex. The 300ex is faster in tight twisty trails. If you ride mainly open areas, get the warrior, it has more top end speed. I've owned 2 warriors and now a 300ex. 300ex feels definately smaller too. But I prefer the 300ex. Reliability is good for both.

I bought my warrior brand new in 96. I was 14 years old. At the time, I was 6'3" tall, 215 lbs. At that time, the Warrior was the best choice for me. Clearly, a 300EX is an undersized machine for a large rider. I am now 6'6" tall, 250 lbs, and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with my quad. It has had the $hit beat out of it and has taken the abuse. I have rolled 4 times, and the only damage has been some tweakage of the handlebars. Overall, i feel that the warrior is an excellent machine for a larger rider, and one who can't afford the extra cash for a cannondale.
