I recently purchase a rancher 4x4 ES that now has 600 miles on it. Is there any problems that I should be aware of or looking for on this machine?

Also, has anybody heard if this machine will have a switch for selectable 2wd or 4wd?

We had an oil-line fitting missing an o-ring. No problems since that was repaired.
As for the 2/4wd, Honda has not announced that yet to my knowledge...

joekrz,i also have two '01 ranchers, but s models. i have seen trouble with shifting es models in winter ,as i live up the road from you in irma. they goe into a flat line mode and your display will not show any thing but dashes, no gear numbers. other than that you made a very good choice. p.s. did you buy at tomahawk sports? very good guys to deal with, jeff, and hob from the band STORM ,they treat me good and in return i send customers there way. also hob and danny, ace mechanics . always looking for somebody to ride with. see ya................ 2) 2001 rancher s models one with warn 2000# winch

Thanks for the reply everyone.

HonRan01,

I bought my machine from Verns in Antigo for $4800 - They gave me the best deal. Tomahawk Sports would only drop to $5100 and Wausau motorsports dropped to $4975. Verns is also a small dealer and has treated me well. If you want to go ridin' you can e-mail me at joe820@aol.com

I had a sensor (partly) break as well as the wire to it getting pulled off- do to debris poking through the skid plate on the bottom. That immediate problem was cleaning ten pounds of mud out to get to the sensor and plug the wire back in. I also got a new sensor because the ceramic sealing boot broke(the old sensor still works broken ceramic boot seal and all).

no problems with 02 Rancher 4x2 other than not a fast starter when cold and has not been run in several days. Also have 02 Foreman 4x4 that does have switch for 2by or 4 by.

02 Foreman 450 4x4
02 Rancher 2x4
95 Polaris 425 Magnim 4x4
