Does anybody know what the limiting factor is in rack capacity for various models? Is it the racks themselves? Something in the suspension? Is it just the way handling will be affected? Is it different for different models?
How conservative is honda on their capacity recomendations? If you put an extra 10 pounds on will something give? 50 pounds?

 

Honda is VERY VERY VERY conservative on their rack weight limitations!! 50 pounds will not hurt anything

 

well i have racks on my 200sx and today my friends were sitting on the back rack (2 friends about 140pounds each) and the rack is fine. the only problem was the suspension was bottomed out completely but otherwise no harm done
