I'm high...that'd be a first...

I noticed that no-one had mentioned 50 to 1, however I did reccomend 40 to 1. I think you mean SuperTechniplate right?

Per Klotz's tech sheet on castor oil:
APPLICATION:
Motorcycle/ATV - 2-stroke/gas; Hi-performance, Racing 10K RPM+
Motorcycle/ATV - 2-stroke/alcohol; Hi-performance, Racing 10K RPM+
PWC - 2-stroke/gas; Racing Extremely Modified 10K RPM+
Marine – 2-stroke/alcohol; Drag Racing
Kart/Micro Sprint - 2-stroke/gas; Racing
Kart/Micro Sprint - 2-stroke/alcohol; Racing
R/C Modeling - 2-stroke/4-stroke glow
CHARACTERISTICS:
Smoke Rating: 4 - 5 1=fog; 10= no smoke
Clean Burn™: 3 - 5 1=heavy deposits; 10=no carbon
Film Strength: 10 1=failure; 10=virtually no wear
Mix ratio water cooled: 32:1

Now on thier SuperTechniplate:
Motorcycle/ATV – 2-stroke/gas; Hi-performance, Racing
Motorcycle/ATV – 2-stroke/alcohol; Hi-performance, Racing
Marine – 2-stroke/alcohol/gas; Drag racing
Kart/Micro Sprint – 2-stroke/gas; Hi-performance, Racing
Kart/Micro Sprint – 2-stroke/alcohol; Hi-performance, Racing
Kart/Micro Sprint – 4-stroke/alcohol; Hi-performance
R/C Modeling – 2/4-stroke glow
R/C Modeling – 2-stroke gas
CHARACTERISTICS:
Smoke Rating: 8 1=fog; 10= no smoke
Clean Burn™: 7 1=heavy deposits; 10=no carbon
Film Strength: 8 1=failure; 10=virtually no wear
Mix ratio, water cooled: 32:1 to 50:1

Now onto Motorcycle Techniplate a 100% synthetic:
APPLICATION:
Motorcycle/ATV -2-stroke/gas;Stock/trail,Hi-performance
CHARACTERISTICS:
Smoke Rating:8-9 1=fog;10=no smoke
Clean Burn ™ :9-10 1=heavy deposits;10=no carbon
Film Strength:6 1=failure;10=virtually no wear
Mix ratio, water cooled: 32:1 to 40:1

Of particular interest, is the RPM reccomendations of the castor oil. Synthetic oil developement in mix oils was really driven by the need for a cleaner burning oil. Castor oil, even de-gummed, still is too gooey. Again of interest is the mix ratio reccomendations for regular Techniplate. 32:1 to 40:1, drawing upon what type of riding that Killer does, 40:1 seems rather appropriate. Further you'll notice how Klotz rates the smoke and rates the deposits. The Techniplate has the least amount of smoke and the least amount of deposits.

Mix oil ratios and what type oil to use threads...I typically leave alone there's too many opinions and too many I have had a buddy who that skew the discussion into a pissin match.

I've been into enough motors now to see what oil does what under what conditions and the influence of the mix ratio as well. I've seen just about every type of mix oil used come across the bench now. Klotz Techniplate and R50 (for more super zoot applications) and the Dumonde Tech DTP full synth oil have been the cleanest with the least amount of wear. I've seen a couple engines that have used Redline and initially it appears to be another oil to add to the list. Mixed from 32:1 to 50:1. 40:1 has been about the best median ratio to use.

Some of the dirtiest oils have been 927, Klotz Benol & SuperTechniplate, Blendzall, Golden Spectro, Torco T-2, Belray S2. Blendzall and Benol were the worst, as mentioned not enough RPM and heat. Even then, in a RZ350 Kart engine that I did, the guy was stuck on using Blendzall, even with 10-11K RPM for extended periods the deposits were unacceptable. He's since switched to R50 and has been much happier with it's performance(and won the championship along the way too )....

As many problems as Killer may have had, I applaud him for his diligence and desire to not only get things running spot-on, but also learn a little something along the way.

Backcountry,

Have you taken apart any engines run on amsoil? I use it, and was just wondering if you've had any experience with it. I've read threads on other forums that swear by it's cleanliness and protection, but I'm sure I could find the same claims with any oil. Thanks for any response.

I've done both, been in engines and used it in my personal stuff too. I have used both the 100:1 mixed at 50:1 and the Series 2000 mixed at 50:1....The 100:1 mixed at 50:1 was a tad dirtier than I had expected, that's what prompted my switch to Series 2000...The Series 2000 did well also. The reason I really didnt throw the Series 2000 into the list was that for many people its a real hassle to get. The deposits were in line with most of the full synth's, the wear shown was in line as well. Overall, I'd say the Series 2000 is a good oil. I just prefer Klotz over that now due to less deposits, decreased smoke, and the nifty smell.
