Can anyone that has much experience with the front brake adjustments on the Honda Foreman give me some suggestions? I have turned the adjustments that determine the gap between the brake and the pads. However, I'm having trouble knowing exactly how much the adjustments need to be turned. The service manual says to tighten the adjustments until the wheel locks, then to back off 3 steps. When I do that it sounds as if the brakes are scrubbing, but if I back off until the scrubbing sounds go away then I basically have no front brakes at all. I know you have to adjust all four adjustments at the same time, so i know i'm at least do that right, and I have bleed the brakes correctly. How do you know when you have the adjustments set correctly?? Thanks

I've adjusted mine lots of times, and near as I can think I've done it sorta like the book says. If the brakes drag or get hot, which I can't ever remember happening, then it would be simple to just back them off a tad bit more.

Go forth and ride!!

When was the last time you cleaned them? I have some tips on my service page on my site at http://www.ansley.net

TexMud beat me to that same question. When did you last clean and inspect the shoes? Be sure to inspect and properly grease the big two lipped seal on the drum.
I have always adjusted mine to the manual specs, and have had no problems.
