i do not think you will have a problem with the 24/25 inch vamps they will clear all the way around and not hit anything you can check out matt sibleys honda 300 4x4 with 24/25 inch vamps on it..at www.highlifter.com then go into readers wheelers it is on the last page of it and it shows a front and rear view of the quad.

I have a 1997 300 FourTrax 4 x 4 with 25 inch Vampires all the way around on ITP 12 inch wheels and a Highlifter 2" lift. My tires are the 9.5 inch width. I am very happy with the tires and the lift really got my front end up out of the ruts. I am not a mechanic, but put the lift kit on in about 1.5 hours, just taking my time. It is really simple and very straight forward. The people at Highlifter are very nice to answer questions and make sure you are happy. Hope this helps.

i've seen the lifter kits and wider rims and tires... my concern is this, most of the trails i go have many places where my stock 300 4x4 just barely fits, or fits perfectly, this is b/c most otherpeople have the typical(48" i believe) width like me, and carve the trails by just using them... if i make it wider, wouldn't it be limiting in many situations.?

thanks.

To MattH,

I have a 97 300 4x4 with Highlifter's lift kit and 26x12x11 Vampires on the rear and 25x9.5x11 Vampires on the front. I had the tires on for a couple of weeks before installing the lift and don't recall any problems with rubbing, etc. The lift didn't seem to make it tippy at all. This little bike goes through all kinds of stuff. The short wheel base and torque of this bike often leaves my Grizzly hanging on tree roots when climbing out of large ruts. My only complaint is that I wish I would have gone with the 26x9.5x11 in the rear (instead of the 26x12's). Sometimes those big heavy tires are a bit much for the 300 motor to turn when you get in the really gooey stuff, but then again they float better in the water. If your in water, say a foot or more deep, you can get off the bike and it will usually float up.

Oh, I guess it would probably help if I told the rest of the story, huh? Alright seriously though, I just bought a 260 acre plot of land on the west edge of my 2500+ acre plot. I had been trying to buy it ever since I got the land from my grandpa and uncle. Anyways, the guy who owned it, died in an unfortunate accident( his grain truck rolled down the side of a hill, with him in it) So his sister inherited the land, and as soon as it went up for sale, I called her up and we set up an appointment to sign over the papers and such. Now I knew there was a machine shed out there with a tractor and brush hog, and some misc. equipment. So the next afternoon, I took the '79 one ton out there, and after I " four wheeled " my way through the trail going up there I went into the barn to see what all new goodies I would have to put in MY fence line. So then I went in there, and right there behind the big ole John Deere, sat a quad! With the key in the ignition! I quickly ran over there to make sure I wasn't seeing a mirage, and there it was in actuallity, a '98 300 2wd! I then ran back to my truck grabbed my cell phone and called the previous owner's sister to inform her. She said that I bought the land fair and square, and that included anything on it, so I ran back to the bike, checked the gas, oil, and rear end oil, threw my leg over the saddle and it fired right up! I didn't even have to choke that sucker! After some tricky skills, I squeezed it out from behind the John Deere, and took it out for a test run and to check the land out. I probably rode that thing for 3 hours, on just 260 acres! Well, I guess it may have been because, I hadn't been through the gates on that property since I was like twelve and my grandpa still owned most of the entire county. So it was getting dark, and I decided to head back to the barn. I went to flip the lights on, and guess what, no lights! Oh well I can live with that for now. So I finally got back and hopped in my truck, went back to the homestead, and got a trailer, and to make a long story not quite as long, there is a 300 sitting in my shop right now, next to the other bikes. Oh, I forgot to mention that it had 25x12x9 and 25x8x11 blackwaters on ITP steel rims, I think that the stock fronts are 23's so I got a bit more ground clearance. I'm not sure as to how long I will keep it, I mean I already have six other bikes ( 350XX, 250R, 200XX, 450S, 350 4x4(broken), and an '87 250 shaft, which it stays up at my uncles most of the time, so that's why I seldom mention it) then again I may keep it, ya never know when one of these mugs may break down(not bloody likely on a honda!!!)Well, I guess I had better start getting the titles on the machines all worked out so I can take them to town tommorow. Later

How does the weight of a 2000 pound Superwinch and mount (underhood) effect the handling and steering effort of a 300 Honda 4x4. Also has any one had any problems with this winch, did you use it enough to justify it, and is 2000 big enough or could I get by with is 1500. P.S. thanks for the info on tires and lift kits.

Thanks Matt
