I am trying to prove to "someone" from these forums that a stock 400ex will rev over 9,000 RPM I hear it's like 9,500 or something. He says they would blow up over 9,000 RPM and I told him with a rev box they would rev over 10,000 RPM. I am correct right >??

KILLER250R,
Now when I hear the 400ex hitting the rev limiter I know the race is over for him. I will simply go into 5th gear and move on past. Chet

If I remember correct from when I had mine, the stock 400ex rev limiter allows the engine to turn 8,200 rpms.

garyc660R,

I always thought the 400ex would cut out before me and I have not hit my rev limiter yet.
Hey, garyc660r have you ever tried polo with your 660r. I might let you use it just to see if you can keep up with us. Hit what the heck is that site down below to see if you are polo material.
Chet

To read the RPM I'll need a tachometer. What kind of tach are you guys using, and which wires do you connect it to?

The shop manual says that a tach should be used to set the idle, but does not show where to hook it up.
