The 400ex has a little more power and handles better. The Warrior has grease fittings and reverse. You have to decide which is more important to you.

Get a 400ex. It is the better machine of the two. That is not to say that the Warrior is a bad machine because by no means it is not. The 400ex has a lot more power (torque and HP) much better manners (suspension and handling) and is reliable as hell.

Don't worry, I used to be like you. I used to have a 300ex and almost bought a Warrior over the 300ex but instead decided to go with the 300ex. A couple years later the 400ex came and I just had to have one. So I sold my 300ex and bought a 400ex. The 300ex is an awesome machine and handles really well but the 400ex is way better in suspension and handling. I also was a little hesitant do to the fact that the 400ex doesn't have reverse. But to be honest with you, I don't miss not having it at all. Yeah, sometimes its nice to have, it is light weight and easy to turn around. I know that the Warrior has reverse which is nice, but you must also know that the 400ex and the Warrior are not classified in the same class. The Warrior is considered a sport quad just like the 300ex, Blaster, and Mojave. The 400ex is in the High Performance class just like the Banshee, Raptor, DS650, and Cannibal.

I know that on some of the Honda quads, they are hard to find grease fittings. Especially between the shocks and a-arms. I had the same problem with my 300ex. I don't think that's a big deal though. It has nothing to do with how the machine handles or how much power it puts out. It's just one of those things that you wonder why Honda did that on that machine. Just like why they put the chokes in the damnest places on the 300ex and 400ex, and why they chose to make the subframe and grab bar on the 400ex the same piece. It's no big deal, you just wonder why Honda would do such a silly thing like that.

Anyway, I would still go with a 400ex over a Warrior any day. It's an incredible machine to ride. Although it's not the fastest High Performance quad on the market right now, it's the most reliable and is rated the best in handling and suspension. I hope that I helped you with your question. Thanks.

Get the 400ex, the Warrior's chain adjustment, just like the Banshee and Raptor...is a pain in the *** !! So is the air box configuration.
Personally I liked my 250x and 300ex better than the Warrior, I can't believe you are putting it in the same category as a 400ex.

I had a 92 Warrior purchased new and rode for 6 yrs. A friend bought a new 300EX new about the same time and we usually rode together. The A-arm bushings on both machines wore out at about the same time. Yes the Yamaha`s have grease fittings and the Honda`s don`t but Yamaha uses a cheaper material because it can be greased and Honda uses a better material because their not greasable. In the end the ability to grease didn`t help the longevity of the bushing.

When I purchased my Warrior it was the biggest 4 stroke you could buy. Now there are plenty to choose from. Between the 2 your considering I would buy Honda 400EX. HTH

Well I would definatly say get the 400EX because it's a totaly better machine in all categories except for reverse. I learned to ride on quads that had reverse like TRX350 4X4 , Recon , Suzuki quadrunner 250 , 250X and a few others and recently I got a 250R and at first it was weird without reverse but now I barely ever have to get off and turn it around even though I ride in very tight trails. You just learn how to go through the trails better and it makes you think before you go (usualy a good thing!) As for the grease fittings, my R has been runnimg for 13 abusive years w/o grease fittings on the stock parts , 250X had been going for 14 w/o any grease related problems too. Get the 400Ex you'll be happy ! I have a 2001 Warrior and a 2001 400EX. Get the 400EX! Other than the fact that the Honda lacks the reverse, it is no comparison. I laugh when I hear people say that the Warrior has similar low end. It is not even close. You can goose the gas in 1st or 2nd and not even pull and ounce and get a wheelie on the 400EX. in 3rd cruising 30 mph you can gun it and tug a bit and wheelie. But I hear people talk about the front of the 400EX being light and tending to flip on hills... I dont have that problem. My Warrior is nice, but not in the same league as the Honda.

BDuTcH300EX,
If you are used to a 300EX you will not like the warrior at all. The 300ex will out handle a warrior easily. The 300 ex is just slightly slower. They have no grease fitting because most people over grease them. I would have to throw my weight to the 400ex. Chet
