tire questions for my new 250ex?

I just ordered a pair of GBC Gators for mine. I hope to have them before my weekend ride and will be glad to tell you how they did. I went with the 22X10X9 size (instead of the 11 wide). They were fairly light, 6 ply and very aggressive. Any decent mud tire will do a good job on the 250EX. It is light enough that it doesn't take a lot to get you thru. My brother went with Duro Excavators. They do a great job in the mud and general traction. The only problem is they are heavier and taller than stock. When we drag race with identical machines and approx. same size riders, I can pull ahead of him with my stock tires still on. I almost went with the Sur Traks. They are a light tire and slightly shorter than stock (maybe 1/4". I liked the look of the tread but they are only 2 ply. Another tire to consider would be the Dirt Devil. It is a good all around tire and is reasonably priced and also a 6 ply. In general I have found that mud tires work well in most circumstances and hold up well. The Bear Claws are a great tire, but they are a little heavy. A recent test I read rated the Mud Machine best overall 22" mud tire. There are a ton of choices. Happy hunting!
