I have owned over the years an '84 ATC 200S, '87 250X, and have had experience with my brother's '87 250X. Would everyone please list what problems they have had with their machines?

For example my 250X needed:
1) Rear wheel bearings
2) Front wheel bearings
3) Stock skid plate quickly fell apart
4) Blew a front shock
5) Bent rear rim (hit a rock)
6) Bent rear axle (same rock)

ATC 200S
1) Petcock lever now leaks in the on position
2) Rear wheel bearings

Brother's 250X - no problems

'87 TRX 200SX- Things I replaced on it since I bought it 3 years ago.

- Chain & Sprockets twice(normal wear)
- Brakes twice(normal wear)
- Neutral light blew(needs replacing)
- Front bearings 2 times
- Rear Axle bearings 3 times
- Side case cap cracked off(same as 250rampage2)
- Battery
- Fr. Brake wheel Cylinders
- Exhaust bolts broke off in engine, had to replace them
- Exhaust leak where muffler and pipe meet, have to re-patch it all the time
- Tires(normal wear)

Most things I replaced are normal wear, It's been a pretty good bike.

A 'reverse shift switch' on a rancher ES- it was damaged (but still worked) from debris while buried in some mud I replaced it so It'd have an appropriate watertight ceramic boot seal.
This bike has a hiar over a thousand miles on it now.

Yes I do have a hair over a thousand, why? Should something be worn out? I did forget to mention the bolt for retaining the airbox rattled out, but the airbox fits snuggly enough in the frame it never gave any trouble. I discovered this last evening when I was changing the main jet.

El Rancho,
You mentioned mud messing up your shifter. I am sure that atvman knows that Honda brakes do not hold up in mud, at least not for people that deep mud ride all the time. I think that is why he is asking???

I do not think that most honda people consider bad brakes due to water/mud abuse to be broken parts. That is probably why more people have not reported them here as broken parts.

My friend has a 01 300ex and this is what has happened while I have been riding with him. He is 5ft 8in tall and weighs about 160

It keeps blowing the fuses under the seat. We have looked everywhere for the short and can't find it. It will go a week or sometimes blow 2 within 10 minutes.

On the 2nd stock front bumper.

replaced bent A-arms & both front rims trying to go over logs in the path

Now has a lonestar axle due to bend in stock axle. Bent so bad it would bottom out every turn

Plastic is shot, mounting spots are broke or cracked, but plastic still looks good

ignition broke so I wired up a switch for him

We bought our quads at the same time and ride together (we also work together) all the time. Neither of us had owned a quad before these, but we had riden before. He wanted a sport and I wanted a little of both. The things I have upgraded are the handle bars, front bumper, exhaust, air filter, and skid plates. The things I have replaced due to breakage or worn out are hand grips, right side a-arm bushing, replaced the rivets that hold front fenders on, just about ready to change the brakes, and a new tow strap(due to pulling out a 2wd Rancher). I forgot to mention that my quad is a P??????. I didn't know if I could say that on the Honda forum.
