I have a 2001 Rubicon and want to put Goodyear Mudrunners, 26 9X12 in the front and 26 12X12 in the rear. Do I need to buy new rims, make any modifications?? Are these tires true 6-ply??

Appreciate any help!

Thanks

i spent most of my days in the sport on utitly quads and i can say if you plan on doing any tech rideing hills tight paths etc big azz mudder's impair handleing beyoned your wildest dreams and rob power by the bucket full i had a 25 inch blackwater kit with rim's you can find for around 600 to 700 bucks i don't think 26 inch tires will even fit on stock rims but then agein im not sure unless all you wanna do is play boat and crawl over log's id go for smaller mud tire's lets not think ground clearnce lets think more of loss of handing and power just my cent and a half paul

I have the 26" Mudrunners on my Rubi... 9' in front, and 12" in back. They fit just fine on the stock rims, and no modifications are needed. You only have to worry about mods with 27" and up. As for the ply, the regular Mudrunners are 4 ply. The Run Flat Mudrunners might be 6 ply though.

Hey Rubidude,

What are your impressions compared to the stock tires in both hardpack and mud??

We are getting ready for some snow and rock climbing in the next few weeks.

Besides the new tires I need to jet for 8000 to 10000 feet of elevation, so I got my hands full hihi!!

Thanks

id say get some better meats in stock size but if your going to go rock climbing big mudder's are a good idea iv been 6 ply blackwater's just remember to keep it down to like 2.5 psi for rocking

No comparison to the stock tires. The Mudrunners are a HUGE step up. It even steers easier. In mud, they do a great job. They can easily keep up with 589's or Vampires, and I have proven this to my riding buddies several times. On hardpack, you will feel a little shaking at low speeds. Once you get over 5 mph, it smoothes out real quick. The long center cleat really helps it ride smoother. I'm not sure how they would work on rock climbing, but I would imagine that you would want a little more rubber contacting the rock surface. The Blackwaters might be a better choice for that. Overall, I've been very impressed with the MR's. They've definitely given me my money's worth.

ok here's the deal i was just looking at my new james lucky book and seen some black water kit's with steel rim's for 479 i think there itp blackwaters and yes they do work better for mud and yes you would love em for rock hounding thats what dirtweels chose for there slang hammer trail on a grizzly along with a left it and a dg pipe and was the frist quad ever to make it without a winch and id personaly say they do have there place one place they came in extremly handy is for plowing snow you couldn't stop it with those 25" black water's

So what you are saying, Blackwaters are the best hardpack/rock tires??

The Maxxis Alltrack are also good on rocks but are 2-ply tires.

Any other good rock tires out there??
