I have noticed that the engine on my 400ex seems to make a slight ticking noise, more so when it is warmed up. I don't have a ton of experience with four strokes so I wondered if anybodies 400ex does this to a certain degree. Thanks

Have u adjusted the valves? You should adjust the valves regularly. How many hours do u have on it approximately?

As With any RFVC honda engine, they make a little more valve train noise than a standard 4 stroke does due to their dual "sub" rocker arm system. Excessive noice is not normal though..They will have a slight tick to them at idle. Make sure they are adj right and that the adj screw doesnt back off when you tighen the nut

I agree, try a valve adjustment. If the bike is new you should have one not too long after it has been broken in.
