What else can i do to go faster and get more power... you know those little tips and tricks. I currently have a 2001 honda 400ex with K&N filter, K&N jet kit with needle and a pro circuit t-4 pipe. I don't want to do a big bore kit cause every thing is in waranty.

Swap your cam for a topend cam or simply change the sprocket's # of teeth.

Throttle Cable and Grinding won't help. But LLatver is right, get a Cam, I don't know if it will still be warrantied. Also, change your rear sprocket out for a ?smaller? one(can't remember how the gearing works in the rear)

The throttle cable will definatly help !!! Unless it's allready been done. Larger back sprocket adds lowend smaller takes away lowend and adds top speed. I woulndt get a smaller sprocket + the 16 in the front on your fairly stock EX, It oudnt pull the gears too well. Take off your airbox lid and rejet, since you don't wont a big bore you can just step up the compression ratio with the stock bore.

PS a rev box will help too.

He didnt say BUY A NEW CABLE he said djust it, stock the throttle cable is adjusted up with way too much slack with means when the thumb throttle is all the way back your only getting 7/8 throttle at the carb but when you adjust it you get 8/8ths throttle so in turn you get free power !!

Another thing that you may want to look into is weight reduction. Getting lighter wheels and tires and plastic and any other thing you could think of will increase power. This is very important especially if you are a heavy guy. When i was 225 i was slower then my 165 friend on the exact same bikes. (stock 400exs) Now that i am at 190 i keep up with him until we hit the top of 5th gear. Look into getting your fly wheel lightened even maybe. HUMMM just my 2 cents...

when ever you adjust your throttle cable, you have to make sure the arch on the slide matches back up evenly w/ the venturi of the carb, otherwise you pull the slide to high, this does 3 things, makes jetting difficult, gives false main jet readings, and interfere's w/ optimal flow, maybe thats why the cable adjustment isnt maxed out from the factory, you also gotta take into consideration the fact that cables wear and stretch, and alot of people dont even think about this, but i guess it their motor, not mine
