Will 87 250R a-arms fit on my 87 250x?
#12
Brad I realize that. But ahhh the distance between the left and right a-arm mounts arent the same are they? To me personally the picture could have been a bad angle or such, but it looked kinda of like the shocks were almost straight up and down. I guess i thought the shocks should be at more of an angle. Killer, its all good, a lot of people sound like dicks on this forum. But hey ill forgive ya, hahahahaha, later dudes

Yes that is correct BigDog the upper frame rails are a little narrower so it does give that illusion.
I would like to add one more note on this though. I remember sometime ago there was another guy that was going to install 250r a-arms on his X, but he didn't want to modify his frame at all. So he called up works and actually had a set of front shocks made. I think I remember him saying that the shocks were around $400.00.
Just a thought.

Just a note:
When switching the a-arms you will need to use your X's bushing spacers on the 250r arms. The 250r a-arm bushing mounts are wider so they have a longer spacer.
As far as the suspension I had a piece of bar stock with the bottom of the sides cut out and welded 2-3 inches above my frame with braces on top and bottom. I had bought a pair of 250r shocks to find the position I need for the new mounts. Worked out very well, I have been running this for over a year, clearing up to 45' jumps with no problem.
I will be taking pic's of this set up soon for another guy so if you send me your email address I'll try to remrember to copy you on it.

2fiftyX that would be awesome if you could send some pics for me. I am planning on getting some 250R shocks along with my a arms. How did you use your shocks to find the position of the shocks mounts? if you could send me the pictures that would be awesome. My email is

I didn't use an exact science but this is what I did. To find the position for the shocks I jacked up the quad in front to the height I wanted the front end to sit realizing that it would sit a little lower once the shocks where on with the weight and all. Then with the 250r shocks bolted on the 250r a-arm I moved the shock into roughly the position I thought they should sit and had someone measure from the center of the existing bracket hole the height and width out to the center of the top mounting hole on the shock. Also remember that the top of the shock will also be sitting closer to the front of the quad when the new mount is welded on to the front of the frame.
When I take the pics I will put up a measuring tape to show the height of the front ground clearance and from where the old shock mounts to the new and any other dimension I think would be useful.
I'll try and take the pics this weekend but I am relying on a friend to come over with a digital camera.
I have your email saved in my email box so I'll send them to you as soon as I can. And if you have any questions you can email me at priestar76@hotmail.com.
Hope it helps.
