I run a supertrapp IDS 2 on my 400ex. I like the sound and power increase.

Iput one on a 300 4x4 and it increased my top speed but killed my low end even when using a few disks. The only time i use it is when racing down a frozen lake.

ranman
I already told you houw happy I was with my setup via Email, but I had to respond to ask rjt how it destoyed his low end but gave him more to end...????????

sorry don't get it

did you rejet?
if you only ran a couple of disks then it probably didn't change anything, in the doc I got with mine they stated that 4 disk was comparable to stock exhaust restrictions.....maybe BECAUSE you only ran 2 was your prob...??

just looking for clarification..

foreman es.I ran the trap with 8 discs and worked down to 4,i also used a k/n filter and highlifter set me up with the jet i needed. But even with 4 discs i had no low end torque. The only thing i could thing of is that the header pipe was so much larger that 4 discs wer still to many. With 8 discs my top speed increase is amazing when wide open.

If you used a complete sytsem ie muffler w/new header pipe that would make since. Since the header pipe is a larger dia it would decrease back pressure even more there by decreasing "low end" grunt. At least that is what I was told when I inquired about a header pipe to. I was told that a header pipe will increase the top end and reduce the bottom end.... so that does make since

You should try the system w/out the head pipe (use the stock one) and then see what you think

just a thought

I put the whole power kit from Highlifter on my 98 450s in 1999. It took a lot of time to get it all adjusted, I believe that I'm running 10 disks
(not sure I kept 3 disks out of the kit). After a year of running it it now is shaped like a bannana
I figure from being hot and running through water.
It has never been hit by any thing. I also have a 2000 450s and running them side by side I really can't tell much difference. I think I'm going to put my stock muffler back on along with the stock jet, needle and buy a new air box to since the present one has an extra air intake. My opinion is that Honda knew what they were doing when they built the bike. These bikes will never be race bikes. I ride with a group that has the power kits as well as the jug and piston offered from highlifter and to be honest when we get in the mud they don't do any better than my stock bike.

My 98 has 26" Vampires and my 00 has 26" Mudrunners. (for some reason this reply has posted twice)
