300 four trax ignition operation
#1
We've got a '88 300 with no spark. All the trouble shooting was done according to the Honda service manual. All the posts in the Tech connection, on this forum, tell me to use "known good componets" to replace the old, to test for complete confidance in finding the bad part.
With no other 300's in the area, I relied on the manual. Can someone explain to me the way that the componets function? This would help me to track down the problem.
1. How does the cdi box know when to send the current to the coil, and how much is the voltage in the charge sent?
2. Can one measure the signal from the pulse generator to the cdi box, and is it dc?
We know that there is power to the cdi box, and that all the coil checks out according to the tech manual. The only question other than above, is that the manual wants the pulse coil to check at 290-360 ohms. Is that the same as .290-.360K ohms?
Any help will be glady accepted! This forum has been a great help as we have used it a lot.
