When you purchase a FCR carb for your 400ex, it includes the needed air horns to mount right up with NO modifications. It does NOT include the throttle cable though. I recommend not ordering the cable with the carb and getting one from servicehonda.com. If you would like to purchase one, please email me at jcv400ex@hotmail.com. I can hook you up with one cheaper than your going to pay anywhere else....

What do you mean by air horns?? Are you talking about the intake manifold or does it fit right into that? Do you have to make any modifications any were on the body. Also i found one with cable and all for $330 used. Good deal in my mind and from the pictures i have seen it looks clean.. Just looking for information. thxs...

The air horns bolt onto the carb. Then the air horns go into the carb boot on the engine side and connect to the airbox on the other side. No modifications are needed. On some earlier carbs, there was a slight problem with the pumper. But all it too to fix this was to play with some adjustments. On all the new carbs, this has not been a problem. The $330 is a good price. Is that the one on Ebay?

Make sure that the used carb that you found is for a 400ex. Yamaha runs this carb stock on their yzf426. The yamaha version will not work without modification on your bike.
I bought my FCR from Trinity racing for 399.00. It bolted right up without changing anything. It was even jetted close. I had to do some minor tweaking to the slow jet and needle and it now runs like a scalded dog.
