yamtt125,

I'm not sure where you are talking about in New Haven, but the place that I usually go to is near the East Haven/North Haven town line. There are some trails, hill climbs and some jumps. As soon as I get my machine ready, I will be riding again.

Proemptpff, I guess i should have said this before, but they didnt have their radios on, so if there was a burglary or murder or anything in the area they wouldnt even know. No i do not have a problem with you guys being out and about but if you dont have a radio with you what would be the point?

i still dont like the ""brotherhood"" ...because if us normal people do that we would be considered vigilantes or gangs?
because if you can do 90MPH down the highway when not on duty because you have no fear of tickets what happens when you hit a car and kill inocent people? i dont think its right because "the brotherhood" will speed and put others in danger because they have no fear of tickets.
dont get me wrong i use to argue with my uncle about this he is an officer also.
but im back to reading ATV responses. but like one guy said above it goes for all of us. think about what your going to do before you do it,is it worth it?

IN IOWA IT'S NOT THE COPS THAT GIVE US PROBLEMS IT'S THE STATE GOVERNMENT. I'VE BEEN STOPPED AND TICKETED BY THE DNR OFFICERS AND I REALIZE THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB, BUT THE RULES THAT THEY HAVE TO ABIDE BY ARE MORE THAN UNREASONABLE. IOWA IS AN ANTIATV STATE BECAUSE OF IGNORANT TREE HUGGERS, AND I HATE TO USE THAT TERM BUT THE NAMES THAY CALL AVTERS ARE JUST AS UNPLEASANT. WE HAVE TRIED TO GET A LEGAL RIDING AREA IN CENTRAL IOWA FOR MANY YEARS AND IT IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE.WE REGISTER OUR MACHINES LIKE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO IN THE PROMISE OF GETTING AN AREA OF OUR OWN. BUT WHEN IT IS FOUND THE ADVISORS TO THE STATE ALWAYS COME UP WITH SOME EXCUSE LIKE THERE IS A RARE PRAIRE GRASS OR SOME FROG THAT IS ENDANGERED. IOWA REALLY NEEDS TO REALIZE THAT WHAT IS REALLY IN DANGER IS THE YOUTHS PLANS ON STAYING HERE. I'VE BEEN RIDING 26 YEARS AND DONT PLAN ON STOPPING ANY TIME SOON, SO I'LL JUST HAVE TO CONTINUE TRESSPASSING.D.PARKER YALE IOWA

Sporty,
I quit coming to this forum quite awhile ago because of the mentality of some of the people on here. I commend you for trying to put out a more positive image to the younger guys.
Most of them have no idea what the consent decree was and how it nearly killed the high performance ATV's in the late 80's and early 90's . ATV's have such a bad image because of inconsiderate riders that break the laws and trespass where ever they want to go. Then hurt themselves running from a cop .
Don't get me wrong I did all the same things when i was younger. I blame the parents for not getting across to there kids proper respect for people's property and the law.

I will have to disagree with the topic, some Cops and ATV'S do mix.

I am a Police Officer myself in Northeast Texas. I have a great relationship with all the ATVERS in our area.

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH SURETHINGTOWIN, THE COPS AROUND HERE HAVE BEEN SUPER COOL, THEY SEEM TO UNDERSTAND OUR PROBLEM WITH THE STATE AND APPRECIATE IT. THEY STOP AND VISIT WITH US. THE IOWA DNR ON THE OTHER HAND HAVENT BEEN SO NICE, BUT THEY'RE JUST DOING WHAT THEY'RE TOLD TO DO. I JUST CANT WAIT FOR THE DAY THAT I CAN RIDE WITHOUT FEELING LIKE A OUTLAW IN A LEGAL PARK. LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN IN IA.. NO FARMERS WILL LET US RIDE WITH THEIR PERMISSION BECAUSE THAT MAKES THEM LIABLE FOR ACCIDENTS THANKS TO IOWAS LAW MAKERS, PRETTY STUPID WOULDN'T YOU SAY. CATCH 22

I do know how it feels also to not hve a place to ride. I also know how it feels to have somebody tresspass on your land neither feel good. Yes I have rode where i shouldnt have before.

One of the great things about this job is I get to meet people with ATV's and land not only have I found great ridding friends but some good places to ride.

Ever other weekend when we ride on sunday it is usally an hour and then some drive to the little 300 acre manmade dunes we have. I wish there was a place closer to but that is the best place we have for my type of riding (drag Race).

I have also heard very negative things for the community about ATVER's while doing this job and I do my best to defend US.

Rember there is power in Numbers.

THE FARMERS KNOW AND REALLY DONT MIND BUT THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE OFFICIAL STAND OF TRESSPASS. I DONT JUST UNLOAD AND RIDE WHERE EVER LOOKS GOOD BUT THAT IS VERY TEMPTING
