rancher recall !!!
#1
this morning honda issued a recall on all ranchers to not ride or operate in any way. rumor has it there is a missing weld on the a-arm that could cause failure when ridden. the local dealer said they were told to not sell or operate any ranchers till further directions were given.

I was just at the honda dealership today and they didn't say anything about it.I am suposed to pick one up around the 16th.I already put money down on it.I hope I won't have to wait a long time for it.If you here anymore about it post it and I'll post if I find out anything.

I can,t say that I,m surprised, I live near the Honda plant and know a lot of the guys who work there. I wouldn,t be surprised if you said they ran backwards. No seriosly they are a good bunch of guys but this is a brand new plant and they are sure to make some mistakes until they learn the system. News of the recall is out here. It may just be an isolated incident of only a few of the Quads built which were shipped to only a few dealers. Hopefully it is not to widespread that could cause some major delays.

Ah, another example of fine Honda quality! Did they ever get the problem with the battery fixed, how about the electric shifting?????

I just got the new Rancher and the next day I found out that there is a recall. I was shopping for some accessories at a Honda dealership to take with me on my first ride when I found out about this recall. When I got home I had a message on my answering machine from my dealer telling me not to ride it. If this recall is about getting the front end welded because it was not done at factory, how can a dealer fix this and be like factory work? Will Honda take back the bad Ranchers and send you another one? I think that the paint on the frame is baked on and the dealer`s fix would be trouble in the long haul. Rust problems etc.

I would have to agree with ya there Jack, If i had just paid 5K for a bike I woldnt want someone playing in there with a wirefeed welder either.. But if they do it right, it would be much stronger than stock afterwards
Just make sure they brush all the fried paint off before repaint it.. that way no rust can get built up under the old paint

Is this recall only effecting the 4x4 or is this on the 2wd as well? I live in Kansas and around here the 2wd is not out yet and that is the one I was waiting on. Geeez I hope it's not on the 2wd model to that's if that model is available yet.
