CT will make a custom pipe for uner $400. Their address is www.ctracing.com As for a porting specialist I don't know what to tell you. I'll have to look around some more.

<< You guys are great thanks for helping me decide how to get my SLUG rolling! >>

LOL, that thing is way far from being a slug!!!
Oh and can some tell me on just how many horses the 400ex has stock and what it can possibly be modded. I heard that stock its only like 27 or something like that. I heard that the new Z400 from suzuki has 40 stock. And some guy at a local track that had that motor in the dirtbike said that just by adding a pipe and filter it can boost it to like 52 hp! Im a honda fan and all but it seems like the suzuki is gonna kick the ex's a$$. Any more words on if honda is gonna make a 650ex?

they dont need a 650 they need to put the crf450 motor in a four wheeler it puts out 55 horse stock and it can also compete in the pro 250 class anything bigger than that and it has to run in the open class which is fair game to anything like raptor 720 and stuff like that

Even if you couldn't get 100hp out of a 400ex.....you could make it eat a 108hp banshee. First, all the possible motor mods and bores, and definitly alky. Next come the weight. If you had deep pockets, have the whole chasis reconstructed at the same spects, but out of titanium. You would lose a TON of weight. Up the sprocket and tire sizes and remove anything from it that is not necessary to go fast. Oh yeah, a good ole shot of nitrous always does wonders for horsepower. Thats how you would eat a 108hp banshee.

A pipe and filter do NOT add 12 HP, or even half that... or in most cases, even half THAT HALF.
Come on, get realistic......

mojaveman1...........i'd rather see a 650ex than a 450ex. The reason being 1) You could get the same power as the 450 but you would have a lot LESS stress on the motor. 2) The 650 motor has been around longer. It also holds more oil than the 450 which would make it run cooler and last longer. The only downside to the 650 engine is it weighs quite a bit. This is just my opinion, so feel free to disagree.

You don't think that a pipe and filter can get 3 hp out of a engine?!?! A pipe alone could easily pull an extra 6 hp out of a engine. Look at the Raptor pipe shootout or the 7 hp gain that the HMF exhaust gives the Cannondale.

The horsepower figure is an overall power increase. If they say that it gained 6hp with an exhaust system, it could just mean that it has 2HP more on the bottom, 2 more ponies in the mid-range, and 2 hp on topend. You will not feel a 6HP boost, just a little more power everywhere in the power band.

So i guess it would be possible to get 12HP overall out of the raptor if the stock exhaust is really restrictive.

If I was figuring it up like that it would be a 14 hp gain, but I don't figure it like that. I should have clerified a little... the HMF exhaust gives it a 7 hp gain in bottom end, 5 mid, and 2 on top end.
