I'm 16 years old and I own a 99 Honda Recon. Most of the time when I go riding is with my dad's friends, and they all have big 4x4s. I was wondering if there was any way to get more power. I already have a Stage 1 Jet Kit, Supertrapp Exhaust, and k|n prefilter on it. Is there any other way at all I can get more power. I am also looking into some new tires for mud, could I have some suggestions please. I was thinking about the Kenda Bearclaws, I don't want to go to big for my Recon.

(recon)
Front-22x7-11
Rear-22x10-9

Get a sportier grind cam, a wiseco 10.25/1 compression piston, radial valve job, lift, and tires. You'll prolly be happy with the outcome.

If you could also please give me suggestions about what tires to get for a small utility, the Recon. I ride mostly in mud and in wood trails. Is the Kenda Bearclaw any good? Thanks.. Can anyone at least tell me what the number by a piston kit means. I.E. Piston (.25) OPT. The # in parentheses is the one I want to know about. Do I want the biggest # for my Recon or the standard, for the most power I can get. Is Camshaft Comp. what I want for the most power gain, as what hondaman told me, or do I need something else? P.S. I found all this at Troy-Racing.com, are they any good? Thanks for all of your help, I appreciate it!

An FST 300 kit will give you far more power then a high comp piston, with a cam and the 300 kit you should be able to smoke those 4X4's. On my old recon I took off everything I didn't need/want. (racks, plastic gaurds, ect ect ect)

The number in the parenthesis is the bore size.....if your cylinder hasn't been bored, you want the standard. Just up the compression of the piston. A cam changes the lift and duration of the valves, not the compression. This provides power in different areas of the powerband, often giving you a better overall gain of power. An fst 300 kit would be nice also. And yes, bear claws are good, a friend of mine had them on his recon and they did pretty well. Troy racing is not the cheapest on parts though.....servicehonda.com is much cheaper, but with upgrade parts, you'll have to go aftermarket, not factory.
