Missing Problem
#1
My recon's engine is missing. It idles fine, but when I give it throttle it starts sputtering and trying to die. The muffler/silencer thing steams alot after it gets warm like it has water in it, Could it get moisture and not be breathing right? I've changed the spark plug and cleaned the filter, but that didnt help. Could you please tell me whats wrong?

Contaminated fuel in the float bowl, such as moisture, can produce the symptoms you describe.
Drain the tank from the reserve petcock position, drain the float bowl with the dump tube or drop the bowl, use known dry, clean fuel, maybe some gas line anti-freeze thrown in for prevention, and see how that works.
When you open the throttle, the carb drinks from the main jet, set low in the float bowl. A quad might idle o.k., drinking from the upper layer of fuel, but when the throttle is opened, it goes flat.
Good luck.

I had the same problem after I sank my Bayou in five feet of water. It would crank and idle but not throttle up smoothly. As Tree Farmer pointed out, the problem was resolved by draining the float bowl. Been running like a sewing machine ever since.
