400EX Faults
#1
I recently bought a 2000 400EX and i want to know what else i can do to it to find out how i can gain more HP and the defects... i know two of them and they are that the tool compartment's lid fell off and luckily i was able to find it... i cleaned it god and placed a thick bead of silicon in the cap and treaded it on and now i have better protection from the water.. another thing it that the handle bar plugs will fall out what i did is i took some handy epoxy or jb weld whatever you perfer and i glued them on and now i havent lost them since.
Another thing is that the parking brake bolt vibrated loos and i bought myself a handy tub of Loctite and i've had no problems with it since. I also had a problem with my throttle and after reading up i discovered out it and all i did was turn the handlebar all the way and locked it and adjusted it so i could get it to go faster now... beware u should always turn it cause the first time i didnt and when i turned around the corners i sped up and i guess that wasnt such a good idea

I have a 2000 400ex. and a 95 300ex with the same tool kit. I drilled a small hole in the lid and near the edge of the tube opening. I then took a piece of insulated electrical wire and wound it like a phone cord. I put the wire through the holes and rolled the ends up and soldered the ends to keep the cap with the bike if it should fall off. the wire goes inside the kit and only the soldered ends show when installed and I covered them with silicone
