Last month I asked the forum readers about the honda electric shift, and got replies that helped me decide to buy a Rancher ES. One reply mentioned a recall on the ES. I called my local Honda dealer and asked the service mgr. if there was a recall and he said " no, Never" (on the electric shift) I also logged on to Honda.com and went to Motorcycles and a list of recalls is available. There has never been a recall on the electric shift. Nice to have the final word. Now, can anyone help me decide on tires? I think it is just a macho thing, but I want to replace my stock 25x11-10's with 25x12-10's with a little more agressive tread. I really like the ITP Spidertrak tires. They seem not as agressive as many, which may give me a smoother ride???? Also how about the Kenda Bearclaws? The tread seems much deeper, hence more rumble on clay and hard dirt??? AND, If I choose to sell my 1998 Recon, how much would it be worth retail??? It is in real good shape.

The bear claws tires are a good tire on hard pack and in most mud but they will cake up in thick mud. If you are looking for a good mud tire I would say the bi/tri claw tires are the best. If you want a good tire test go to www.atvnews.com and then down towards the bottom there is an article called mud bath. go there.

The Bear Claws will cake up in certain types of mud if you are just putting along in 1st but once you get the tires moving they start throwing the mud. Yesterday we found three kids who buried there car in a field...i wanted to see if i could pull them out with my rancher so i backed up and hooked the strap up and by now my tires are caked in mud i put it in 1st jerked it a couple times and we started moving and pulled them up about a 2ft sloped embankment and got them unstuck i was very impressed i highly recommend them

Bear Claws will outlast any tire I've ever seen! I love mine there just perfect all around. You won't be dissapointed.
